Energy

Control, instrumentation and panel systems for energy and utilities infrastructure.

Energy and utilities infrastructure is judged on availability. A feeder that cannot be switched cleanly, or a pump set that cannot be monitored remotely, becomes an operational constraint long before it becomes a fault.

Ivevane engineers the control and instrumentation layer for this infrastructure, covering substation feeder control panels, motor control centres, SCADA and monitoring, and the retrofit of control systems into plant that is already in service.

What goes wrong, and what we do about it

The energy control problem.

  • Switching and feeder control that has to be unambiguousSubstation feeder control panels designed, built and factory tested before they reach site, so commissioning confirms behaviour rather than discovering it.
  • Plant distributed across sites with limited staffingSCADA and monitoring that make distributed plant legible from one place, including the alarms and trends an operator actually acts on.
  • Control equipment reaching the end of its supported lifeMotor control centres specified for the duty, with the protection, metering and diagnostics required to keep them maintainable.
  • Retrofit work on infrastructure that cannot be taken offlineRetrofit staged around existing outage windows, with each stage proven in service before the next begins.
Typical architecture

How the control stack is usually built.

Every plant differs, but the layers rarely do. This is the shape most projects in this sector take.

  1. 01 · SupervisorySCADA, monitoring, trending and alarm management
  2. 02 · ControlPLC control for feeders, pump sets and auxiliaries
  3. 03 · ProtectionProtection relays, metering and interlocking
  4. 04 · NetworkIndustrial Ethernet, with remote access where required
  5. 05 · FieldMotor control centres, drives and process instrumentation

Vendor-neutral by design — which matters when your sites are not standardised on one platform.

Questions

What operators usually ask.

Can you work on infrastructure that is already in service?

Yes. Retrofit and modernisation of installed plant is a core part of the capability. Work is staged around existing outage windows rather than requiring one long shutdown.

Do you build the panels as well as engineer them?

Yes. Panel building and motor control centres are in-house, which means the panel is factory tested against the control logic before it is despatched.
